      YANGON, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's fourth telecom operator, MyTel, has launched its services after being awarded license, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Monday.

      MyTel is a joint venture of a local consortium comprising 11 private firms and Viettel, owned by Vietnam defense ministry.

      Nationwide telecommunications license (NTL) was issued to MyTel by the Transport and Communications Ministry last month.

      The MyTel has opened branches across the nation with about 2,000 staff and the operator will only provide 4G service.

      At present, three operators are running the country's telecom market which are Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications owing market share of 42 percent, Telenor with 35 percent and Ooredoo with 23 percent.
