YANGON, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Myanmar government and the Myanmar Rice Federation have donated 300 tons of rice to Sri Lanka's flood victims, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Monday.

The donation is made as humanitarian aid for victims of the flood and landslide in Sri Lanka in May 2017, which killed more than 200 people and left 600,000 homeless.

The shipment of aid from Yangon Port is expected to reach Sri Lankan port in early March.

Myanmar and Sri Lanka have been engaged in economic, social and cultural exchanges and there is business-to-business cooperation besides a government-to-government agreement between the two countries.

Bilateral trade between Myanmar and Sri Lanka reached 36 million U.S. dollars and the volume is on the rise annually.
