KIGALI, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) has unveiled an online trade platform where all the information regarding export, import and transit of goods in Rwanda will be availed to business community, government agencies and all interested parties for free.

The portal ran by the RRA will give importers and exporters quick access to step-by-step guide trade related procedures (licenses, permits and clearance process), according to the government revenue agency.

"The online portal is part of the Rwanda Revenue Authority efforts to improve the efficiency of trade in and out of Rwanda by reducing the time needed to import and export goods by 47 percent and 91 percent respectively," said the commissioner general of RRA Richard Tusabe.

Rwanda traders have had difficulties accessing relevant information about exportation, importation and all procedures related to clearance for a long time, said Tusabe.

The online platform will enhance the doing of business environment in the country by reducing the cost and time spent looking for the information, making traders more productive, said Vincent Munyeshyaka, Rwandan minister of trade and industry.

Rwanda targets to deliver all government services online by 2024 in order to improve government services, transactions and interactions with citizens, businesses, and other arms of government, according to the ministry of information and communication technology (ICT).

In the World Bank Group's Doing Business 2017 report, Rwanda ranked 56th out of 190 countries' economies in ease of doing business, further encouraging investor confidence.
