YANGON, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Win Myint will pay an official visit to Thailand soon at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, said an official announcement Monday.

U Win Myint will also attend the 8th Ayeyawady-Chao Phyra Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit and the 9th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Summit to be held in Bangkok.

Statistics show that Thailand's investment in Myanmar amounted to 11.04 billion U.S. dollars as of March 2018, accounting for 14.53 percent of the total and standing the third in Myanmar's foreign investors line-up after China and Singapore since Myanmar opened its door to the world in late 1988.

Bilateral trade between Myanmar and Thailand hit 2.45 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of the fiscal year 2017-2018, of which Myanmar's exports to Thailand stood at 1.4 billion U.S. dollars while import took 1.05 billion U.S. dollars.

Myanmar also conducts trade with neighboring Thailand via border gates -- Tachilek, Myawady, Kawthoung, Myeik, Hteekhee, Mawtaung and Maesai.
