PHNOM PENH, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Trade volume between Cambodia and China was valued at 5.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2017, up 22 percent from 4.76 billion dollars in a year earlier, Cambodian Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak said on Thursday.

"The Cambodia-China trade volume has increased rapidly, an average of 26 percent a year, in the last decade," the minister said during the inauguration ceremony of the Chengdu Bayi Sino-Cambodia Trade City, about 25 km west of central Phnom Penh.

Main items that Cambodia exported to China were milled rice, cassava, and apparels, as it imported from China mostly garment raw materials, machinery, vehicles, foodstuffs, electronics, medicines and cosmetics.

On the investment side, Sorasak said China is the largest investor in Cambodia. According to a report from the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the southeast asian nation had received the fixed asset investment of 12.6 billion U.S. dollars from China from 1994 to 2017.
