JAKARTA, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Host Indonesia has prepared tight security for the forthcoming Asian Games later this year, as the security authorities heeded the movement of militants in the wake of a spate of suicide attacks in recent months.

A huge number of policemen and soldiers of 200,000 personnel will be dispatched during the world's second largest sport event after Olympic to push off possible unintended matters from going on, deputy of national police chief Commissioner General Syafruddin said on Tuesday.

Precaution measures would also be beefed up to avert the possibility of the threat from appearing, he noted.

"Strong intelligence backup, intensified investigation, we will step them up in anticipating an unwelcome incident from taking place," he said at the national police headquarters.

The personnel would be positioned to the country's capital of Jakarta, Palembang, the provincial capital of South Sumatra and other supporting cities, according to him.

Over 20 heads of state and about 11,000 athletes and officials are expected to come to Indonesia during the Games.

The athletes will stage in 40 sports during the event which is scheduled to be played from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2.
