         ALMATY, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Daily oil production at the Tengiz field in January increased to 870,000 barrels, according to a press release from the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan on Wednesday.
         "As of January, daily oil production at Tengizchevroil (TCO), the operator of one of Kazakhstan's largest oil fields, reached 870,000 barrels," the press release stated.
         The ministry specified that this figure is 45 percent higher than the average level for 2024.
         According to TCO, the project is expected to increase Tengiz's total crude oil production by 12 million tons per year.
         The Tengiz oil and gas field is one of the largest in Kazakhstan, with oil reserves of 3.1 billion tons. It is located in the Atyrau region. From January to June 2024, oil production at the field reached 14.4 million tons (114.6 million barrels), a 3.4 percent decrease compared to the first half of 2023.  ■
