NANJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- A league of lawyers has been set up to safeguard rights of survivors of the Nanjing Massacre and promote civil litigation, according to the Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre.

The league was launched in November by the Nanjing Lawyers Association and the Nanjing Legal Aid Foundation.

Currently, the league has received 150 applications nationwide.

The league aims to collect evidence on the massacre and carry out research.

Japanese troops captured Nanjing on Dec. 13 of 1937. Over six weeks, they killed 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers.

In February 2014, China designated Dec. 13 as the National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims.
