      MACAO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- A total of 80 extra and charter flights have begun to run between Macao and 13 cities during the Spring Festival holidays, the special administrative region's civil aviation authority said here on Monday.

      The Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) said it approved those flights to start from Feb. 4 to Feb. 26 to increase their capacity to meet the demand for air transport for the Chinese Lunar New Year.

      The operators of these flights are Air Macau, Juneyao Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Sky Flyer Inc. The flights are destined to the following cities:

      Chinese mainland (51 flights): Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Changzhou, Chengdu and Qingdao;

      China's Taiwan region (24 flights): Taipei and Kaohsiung;

      Vietnam (two flights): Danang;

      Japan (two flights): Osaka and Kokura;

      Thailand (one flight): Bangkok

      AACM added that the number of flights for this year has been doubled compared with last year, when it received and approved a total of 40 extra and charter flights in 2017.
