KAMPALA, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Uganda dropped by five places in the latest FIFA rankings released by Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).

The Uganda Cranes' failure to qualify from the group stage at the 2018 Total Africa Nations Championship in Morocco has seen them drop to 78th place, but still remained top in the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) region.

"The team will continue to work hard so that we can keep improving in the rankings in the world and in Africa," said Edgar Watson, Uganda FA Chief Executive Officer.

At the CHAN tournament Uganda lost 3-1 to Zambia, fell 1-0 to Namibia and drew goalless against Cote d'Ivoire.

Tunisia, who have also qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, remained Africa's best ranked country in 23rd position with 914 points, while Senegal dropped by three places to 27th place.

The Democratic Republic of Congo moved to 34th place, while Morocco dropped to 42nd place.

Germany maintained top position with 1602 points ahead of Brazil (1484 points).
