      ISLAMABAD, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Friday that Pakistan's Sensitive Price Indictor (SPI) based inflation for the combined income group fell by 0.03 percent to 222.24 points in the week that culminated on Feb. 15, 2017 as against 222.31 points recorded during the previous week.

      Pakistan's official department for collection of inflation data and other key economic indicators said that when compared with the same week of last year, the SPI-based inflation numbers for the combined income group increased by 1.03 percent.

      The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics compiled the weekly inflation data by covering 17 centers in urban areas and 53 essential items for all income groups.

      The PBS further stated that the SPI for the lowest income group up to 8,000 Pakistani rupees (72.3 U.S. dollars) trimmed down by 0.13 percent to 210.55 points in the week under review as against 210.82 points reported in the previous week. Similarly, the SPI for the income groups from 8,001-12,000 rupees, 12,001-18,000 rupees, and 18,001-35,000 rupees fell by 0.09 percent, 0.05 percent, and 0.03 percent, respectively. On the contrary, the SPI for the income group of above 35,000 rupees moved up slightly by 0.02 percent.

      During the week under review, average prices of 13 items decreased, 10 increased, whereas values of 30 other items remained unchanged in the South Asian country.
