      PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Star skater Wu Dajing won China's first gold at the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games as he stormed to finish line first in the men's 500m short track speed skating final on Thursday.

      The 23-year-old Wu, the Sochi 2014 silver medalist, clocked a world record of 39.584 seconds for the gold medal and bettered his own record of 39.8 seconds set earlier in quarterfinals.

      China, next host of the Winter Olympics, is now 13th on the medals table with one gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
