MEXICO CITY, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's president-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Tuesday that he was satisfied with his private meeting with President Enrique Pena Nieto.

At a press conference following the meeting, Lopez Obrador said he expressed gratitude to the president for acting with respect throughout the election process.

During the meeting, the pair agreed on ensuring an "orderly, calm transition," and discussed a range of issues including the 2019 budget and the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), said Lopez Obrador.

The president-elect said he promised Pena Nieto he would respect the autonomy of Mexico's Central Bank and the macroeconomic policy.

Lopez Obrador, candidate of the left-of-center National Regeneration Movement, defeated three rivals, including the one from the ruling party, garnering 53-53.8 percent of the vote, according to preliminary results.

He is expected to take over the Mexican presidency from Pena Nieto on Dec. 1.
