JAKARTA, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- A senior official from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has assured that Indonesia's Palembang is 100 percent ready to host the 18th Asian Games slated to commence in the next four days, after inspecting all aspects related to the sports event.

OCA Honorary Life Vice President Wei Jizhong said Palembang's readiness resulted from a reorganization mechanism in the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC), aimed at improving accommodation and facilities after Wei submitted a report after his previous visit to the city last month.

"When I was here in July, there were several problems that need to be fixed accordingly. But now, on my latest visit, we can say that everything is good here," Wei said in Palembang's Asiad stadium of Jakabaring on Monday.

He added that the provincial government and related institutions have settled the development of apartments for Asiad athletes and officials, as well as the provisions of volunteers, security personnel and related necessities for the Asiad.

He added that no athletes or officials have complained about the food and accommodation provided by event organizers in Palembang, capital of Indonesia's South Sumatra province.

Wei has been in Palembang since Sunday to pay attention to the city's preparedness to host some 3,100 athletes contending Asiad's 14 sports.

The city will kick off the Asiad with the qualification rounds of the women's football, scheduled on Thursday.

Palembang and Jakarta will host the 18th Asian Games themed "Energy of Asia" from August 18 to September 2. Around 11,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries and regions will compete in 40 sports across 67 disciplines.
