JAKARTA, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Wing Ying Siu snatched the first gold for Hong Kong, China, at the 2018 Asian Games by winning the equestrian individual dressage competition here on Thursday.

Siu and her horse, JC Fuerst On Tour, scored 77.045 points to take the gold, beating Malaysian rider Mohd Qabil Ambak to the second place with 76.620 points.

"We all try to get the best results. I try to spur myself, and today, I think it was in line with our plans," said Siu, who competed in her fourth Asiad.

The bronze medal went to Kim Hye-ok of South Korea with 75.705 points.

Riders competing in the 2018 Asian Games' equestrian sports will still compete for three gold medals, namely in eventing, team jumping and individual jumping.

The 18th Asiad will stage 465 events out of 40 sports, among which 330 events from 32 sports will feature in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 2018 Asian Games, attracting more than 10,000 athletes, will run through Sept. 2.
