TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Iran's top military commander urged the Iraqi government and Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region authorities to prevent the "terror" groups from nearing Iranian borders in the west, Press TV reported on Thursday.

Major General Mohammad Baqeri, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, said that the nation's security constitutes a "red line" for the armed forces, according to the report.

Baqeri warned "counter-revolutionary" groups against any attempt to destabilize the Islamic Republic.

"Bases of counter-revolutionary (forces) and ill-wishers of the Iranian nation must not exit near our borders in neighboring states," said Baqeri.

He stressed that the central Iraqi government and Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region are duty-bound to keep such groups under control.

Baqeri made the remarks during a visit to border outposts in the western Kermanshah Province.

On Sept. 9, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had launched missile attacks on two headquarters of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan near the town of Kwisanjaq in Iraq's semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan.

The attack targeted the base used for training anti-Iran "terrorist" in which up to 14 "terrorists" were killed and 39 others were wounded, the IRGC statement said.
