JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- South African striker Dino Ndlovu, who is playing for the China League One team Zhejiang Greentown, has vowed to help his side promote to the Chinese Super League this year.

In a recent interview, Ndlovu told Xinhua that he joined Zhejiang Greentown in 2018 with a lot of pressure. However, he managed to score 19 goals in 24 matches and missed three games due to injury.

"I had the best welcoming ever in my entire career from the team. I had lots of expectations which I met and even surpassed them. Every year I want to be better but most importantly is to take Greentown to Super League this season," said the 28-year-old Ndlovu.

Speaking highly of the Chinese league, Ndlovu said, "I enjoyed every minute of it. I have had a lot of Chinese dishes and I like most of them."

Ndlovu admitted that he faced language challenges when he went to China. He said he still struggles to speak Mandarin but can speak the basics and understand some lines.

He said playing in China have taught him about responsibility and respect for other people's cultures.

Last year, Zhejiang Greentown narrowly missed promotion into the Chinese Super League. Ndlovu said he was disappointed with that but he would concentrate on fighting for this year's promotion.

He said, "I was so heart broken about all the work that we had put in the whole season and made me to question a lot of things. I had to accept that we had a young team in the whole league and this year we are much experienced and the mandate is promotion."

Ndlovu also plays for the South Africa national soccer team which he want to help to qualify for Africa Cup of Nations.
