GAZA, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- A senior Qatari official said Friday that the Qatari grant used to be paid to Hamas movement, which rules the Gaza Strip, will be used in humanitarian projects, sponsored by Qatar in coordination with the United Nations.

Mohamed el-Amadi, also chairman of the Qatari Committee to Reconstruct Gaza, told a news briefing that "after Hamas leadership told us that it won't accept the grant unconditionally, it was agreed to transfer the grant for projects, sponsored by Qatar."

He said that "the grant will be allocated to humanitarian projects in coordination with the United Nations in the Gaza Strip."

On Thursday, senior Hamas officials announced that they refused to receive the 15-million-U.S. dollar third installment of the Qatari grant due to the Israeli government's policy of blackmailing the movement and bargaining calm for money.

"There are some parties that exploit the Qatari grant for political exploitation," said el-Amadi, adding that "the Palestinian people have the right to end their suffering throughout peaceful protests," referring to the weekly anti-Israel marches and protests.

The Qatari diplomat, who has been going on marathon travels between Gaza and Israel to overcome the crisis of the Qatari grant, said "we hope that the grant will be delivered as a humanitarian aid to poor families in the Gaza Strip."

He unveiled that Qatar has invited the Palestinian factions, including the two rival groups Hamas movement and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah Party, "to join a new round of reconciliation dialogue to end 12 years of internal division."
