Very heavy falls of above 150 millimeters can be expected in Ratnapura, in south central Sri Lanka, and the Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts, in the south.

Heavy falls of about 100 millimeters can be expected in Uva and central provinces and in Kegalle, in the Sabaragamuwa Province, Gampaha, in the outskirts of capital Colombo, Hambantota, in the island's south and the Colombo district.

Severe lightning will also occur in the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western and Uva provinces.

"There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity," the Meteorology Department said.
