PARIS, March 28 (Xinhua) -- A second referendum on Britain's departure from the European Union (EU) would be "a democracy denial," said Nathalie Loiseau, former European Affairs minister on Thursday, calling on the British to decide on the way to quit the bloc.

"I'm against a new referendum because it would be a denial of democracy. Britain must leave," stressed Loiseau who leads President Emmanuel Macron's list for the upcoming European election.

"It's clear, the European Union will not re-negotiate the (Brexit) agreement because what is included in that deal defends our interests," she told BFMTV news channel.

The former minister believed that the populists based on "simplistic slogans", who are behind the Brexit, caused today's "chaos and confusion."

"Rejecting is much easier than making a project," she said, referring to the Britons who approved London divorce from the European bloc without being able to press through the process, which is as deadlocked as ever.

On Wednesday, May told MPs that she will quit as prime minister if the British parliament backs her Brexit plan, which has been voted down twice by large margins in the parliament since January.

Britain is formally scheduled to leave the EU on March 29. But, during a summit in Brussels, European leaders agreed, last week, to postpone the exit date until April 12 to give a further chance to amicable divorce.
