ISLAMABAD, June 25 (Xinhua) -- A speeding passenger coach rammed into a car in Pakistan's southern Sindh province on Tuesday, leaving seven people killed and 15 others injured, local media reported.

According to the reports, the speeding bus coming from the opposite direction hit the car on the Indus Highway near Numnara area in Shikarpur, a district in Sindh.

Following the incident, rescuers, police and local people rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the Civil Hospital in the district for treatment, where several of the wounded were said to be in critical condition.

Police said that all the killed people, including three women, belonged to the same family and were present in the car, adding that an investigation had been launched into the accident.

The car was completely destroyed in the accident and the rescuers had to cut its parts to retrieve the bodies, the reports added.

Road accidents frequently happen in Pakistan, mainly due to poorly maintained vehicles, dilapidated roads and negligence of road safety measures.

According to traffic police, most of the accidents happen in the country are mainly due to human error.
