JAKARTA, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Japan underlined its dominance at Badminton's Indonesia Open here on Sunday, as its players scooped both women's singles and doubles titles.

The Japanese doubles pair of Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota beat compatriots Misaki Matsumoto/Ayaka Takahashi 21-16, 21-18, before singles player Akane Yamaguchi took her own title in the following match.

Yamaguchi defeated her Indian opponent Pusarla V. Sindhu 21-15 and 21-16.

"We did not encounter any problem in the first game. In the second game our senior compatriots were not in their best condition," Fukushima said after the match at the Istora Senayan badminton stadium.

"From that point on we took the initiative to play faster, combined with frequent attacks," she added.

Takahashi had previously said that she and Matsumoto had not been in ideal condition since arriving in Jakarta to take part in the tournament, with the 2016 Olympic gold medal-winning pair having both suffered a fever lasting several days.

With their win, Fukushima and Hirota earned 92,500 U.S. dollars, while Matsumoto and Takahashi received 43,750 dollars as runners-up.

Women's singles champion Yamaguchi received 87,500 dollars, while her beaten opponent Sindhu took home 42,500 dollars.
