China's ballet season has kicked off, with a group of performances to be staged in Beijing.

BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The fourth China International Ballet Season has kicked off in Beijing, with 33 performances in 20 ballet plays to be staged during the three-month event, according to China Culture Daily.

Opened earlier this month, the ballet season was unveiled with performances by the Eifman Ballet of Saint Petersburg, featuring ballet classics "Tchaikovsky," "Anna Karenina" and "The Brothers Karamazov".

The National Ballet of China will put on a series of performances of foreign classics as well as original Chinese ballets such as "The Red Detachment of Women."

A ballet ensemble from Stuttgart will perform John Cranko's ballet adaption of "Onegin" from Friday to Sunday, which is the ballet's signature work.
