Quality education is no longer a luxury for children in China's poorer areas. This has been made possible thanks to this pioneering school and many others built under Project Hope.

BEIJING, Oct. 31, 2019 (Xinhua) -- Jinzhai Hope Primary School was founded on May 19, 1990 as the first primary education institution under Project Hope, a public service project in China that aims to ensure greater access to education for children in the country's poverty-stricken areas.

Active government and social supports have helped the school develop into a modernized learning institution, where 850 students are currently enrolled on a 14,200-square-meter campus.

It's been 29 years since Jinzhai Hope Primary School was established and over 5,400 rural students have graduated from here.

The school marked a new start in China's effort in education fairness. Similar schools have been built after it under Project Hope, and quality education is no longer a luxury for children in poorer areas.
